The English Provender Co.  ‘The Great Picnic’,  Montpellier Woods, 2015 Cheltenham Jazz Festival, 29th April – 4th May 2015.

This is the first time The English Provender Co. have partnered with Cheltenham Jazz Festival.  Help us celebrate by sampling our scrumptious range of chutneys and condiments throughout the festival from our retro inspired caravan. Purchase your favourite English Provender Co. goodies to complement your own picnic and be part of our 'Great Picnic’; let’s embrace this very English past-time with the very best ingredients!

On Sunday 3rd and Monday 4th May, 12.30-2pm The English Provender Co. is also hosting a Teddy Bear's Picnic for families with children of all ages. These special events will include foodie treats and face painting for the kids, bring along your own food and drink to join-in the fun!

Don’t forget your Teddy Bear for the Best-Dressed Bear Competition, judging takes place at 2pm on Sunday 3rd May and Monday 4th May in Montpellier Woods but if you can’t make it on the day, post your teddy’s photo on twitter using  #provenderpicnic  anytime over the festival weekend, for a chance to win some Teddy Bear related prizes.

The English Provender Co. has partnered with Fox Searchlight Pictures for the UK launch of the new feature film, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD. The English Provender Co., makers of naturally delicious chutneys, curds, condiments and salad dressings will be celebrating the film launch by offering an on-pack competition. Shoppers will have the chance to win £1,000 to spend with Premier Cottages, a Visit England-accredited collection of 1,000 of self-catering cottages across the UK and Ireland.

The promotion will be on-pack across five The English Provender Co. products including the Sweet Tomato & Chilli, Plum & Bramley Apple Chutney, Apple, Pear & Fig Chutney, Moroccan Spiced Chutney and the Hot Chilli & Red Pepper Chutney. The competition will be live from 1stApril until 31stJuly in over 2,000 stores across the UK.

Based on the literary classic by Thomas Hardy, FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD is the story of independent, beautiful and headstrong Bathsheba Everdene (Carey Mulligan), who attracts three very different suitors: Gabriel Oak (Matthias Schoenaerts), a sheep farmer, captivated by her fetching wilfulness; Frank Troy (Tom Sturridge), a handsome and reckless Sergeant; and William Boldwood (Michael Sheen), a prosperous and mature bachelor. Two new mustards from The English Provender Co. are now on sale in Waitrose stores nationwide. The Wholegrain Mustard with Fig & Honey and Wholegrain Mustard with Horseradish were launched in store from 13th October 2014 and are priced at £1.49 each. The two new mustards follow the launch of the Posh Piccalilli and Beetroot, Horseradish & Dill Relish earlier in September.

Made with all-natural ingredients, the flavours provide a strong contrast to each other; the Wholegrain Mustard with Fig & Honey is rich and creamy and pairs brilliantly with chicken and sausages while the Wholegrain Mustard with Horseradish has a full-on flavour with a fiery kick.

To help you achieve a thoroughly delicious cheeseboard, we've pulled together these top tips:

Pick a champion chutney! The English Provender Co. has a scrumptious selection!

Select between three and five cheeses of different types and textures, including hard, soft and blue.

Always serve the cheese at room temperature to ensure maximum flavour and perfect texture. 

Serve with natural ingredients, like sweet green grapes, cherry tomatoes, parsley and celery. Apples are another traditional favourite; crisp varieties are best, such as Cox, Pink Lady or Braeburn.

For something different - try with peaches, sliced into thin slivers, which will really cleanse the pallet. 

Offer the cheese alongside biscuits or crackers that don’t taste too strong or salty.

We're very excited to be going to the Foodies Festival, Hampton Court Palace! We'll be setting up stall & welcoming you to come along & taste all of our champion chutneys, curds, condiments & salad dressings.

Thanks so much to everyone who entered our competition!

The suggestions were really & truly fabulous, there was even a poem! Though it was tricky (& our mouths were seriously watering) we did manage to pick out three lucky winners & they're delightful entries are below:

Your chocs and chutneys sound really yummy, 
Just what I'd love for my yummy mummy,
My girls love their mum, and I love "my bird",
And sure she'd love your ginger curd!

For a fresh cream homemade ginger and pear trifle. Sandwich some Victoria sponge together with the curd. Top with tinned pears in juice (optional sherry), then chocolate custard. Whipped cream sprinkled with chopped pecans, crystalised stem ginger and grated dark chocolate.

I'm a simple girl. I'd brew a big pot of tea, toast some doorstops of white bread, spread liberally with good butter, and top with generous spoonfuls of lovely, golden, indulgent ginger curd.
